Campaign Wiki Style Guide

This wiki is a collaborative, spoiler-free record of our campaign.

It should contain only information that the party has discovered, believes to be true, or reasonably suspects.

The goal is to create a useful knowledge base and an enjoyable chronicle that we can look back on long after the campaign has ended.

General Principles

  • Write from the perspective of the party.
  • Do not include DM knowledge or spoilers.
  • Keep factual information separate from speculation.
  • Link to existing pages whenever possible.
  • If you're unsure, create a stub page rather than leaving plain text.

Naming Pages

Namespaces and page names should always use:

  • lowercase letters
  • underscores instead of spaces

Examples:

pcs:draiach
pcs:lyra
npcs:lulu
locations:baldurs_gate
items:shield_of_the_hidden_lord
sessions:2026-06-26

Some sections will need sub-sections. For example, locations in Baldur's Gate should be grouped together under Baldur's Gate. Examples:

locations:baldurs_gate:elfsong_tavern
locations:baldurs_gate:blushing_mermaid
locations:baldurs_gate:uncivil_servant

Page headings should use proper English.

Example:

====== Draìach Shessair ======

Whenever something already has its own page, link to it.

Example:

We travelled to [[locations:elturel|Elturel]] with [[npcs:lulu|Lulu]].

Avoid creating duplicate pages with different names.

Unless important, each page only needs to be linked the first time it is mentioned on a given page. For example, if Elturel is mentioned several times in a Session page, we only need to link to it the first time.

Character Journals

Character journals are personal. They will allow each person to write their own PC's perspective, if they wish.

They may include:

  • opinions
  • emotions
  • theories
  • misunderstandings
  • speculation

Journal entries do not need to be objectively correct.

Journals will be created under:

pcs:pcname:journal

For example:

pcs:draiach:journal

Shared Pages

The following pages should remain factual wherever possible:

  • Sessions
  • NPCs
  • Locations
  • Items
  • Timeline

If something is uncertain, clearly state that it is believed or suspected rather than confirmed.

Mysteries & Theories

Mysteries & Theories should record unanswered questions and our thinking around them.

When something is solved:

  • Update the relevant page.
  • Move the mystery to a “Resolved” section rather than deleting it.

Current Quests

Quests should record tasks we have set out to accomplish.

When a quest is completed:

  • Update the relevant page.
  • Move the quest to the “Completed Quests” section rather than deleting it.

Sessions

Each game session gets its own page, named for the date in which that session was played.

Suggested naming:

sessions:2026-06-26
sessions:2026-07-10
sessions:2026-07-24

Each session page should include:

  • Summary
  • Important Events
  • NPCs Met
  • Locations Visited
  • Treasure
  • Outstanding Quests
  • Links to player journals

Images

Upload images using descriptive filenames.

Where appropriate, start the name with the section it relates to, followed by the name, and finally the type of picture.

Examples:

npcs_lulu_portrait.jpg
items_shield_hidden_lord.png
locations_elturel_map.webp

Avoid filenames such as:

image1.jpg
photo.png

Editing

Feel free to improve pages created by others.

However:

  • Preserve each player's own journal entries.
  • Correct factual mistakes rather than rewriting someone's writing style.
  • If in doubt, discuss significant changes with the group.

Most Important Rule

This wiki exists to make the campaign more enjoyable.

Clarity is more important than perfection.
